Original charcoal drawing and poetry
This is a series that I created over the course of two years. It started with taking things I had written, rants, letters never sent and journal entries, and blacking out all the words that didn’t belong. What emerged was a raw, unusual form of poetry. I started making nude charcoal drawings because I wanted to accept my body as it changes its form with age. Whenever I draw something, I see its beauty, because I really look at it.
I blended the blackout poems, the original rants and/or letters-never-sent, with the charcoal drawings and this series was born.
i accept me
this need to feel
breakdown bare.
there is nothing left
I am what remains
bigger & stronger & more open self.
And it’s I.
The ultimate symbol
of potential for
creation – exists
in all of us
in ways unexpected.
Got to do your own.
Dear Mood Swings,
It’s exhausting for me
and it’s exhausting for you.
Please spin my weather cock
and play music from the bottom of my heart.
